Russell was out surfing with his brother Adam at Sussex Inlet on the Australia's east coast last week when a little bit of magic happened.
A seal just straight up launched out of the wave right next him creating this stunning photo.
BuzzFeed spoke to Russell who said it was easily one of the highlights of his 15 years surfing.

The AFL has apologised for a "human error" which saw a jersey naming Sam Mitchell the 2015 Brownlow Medal winner go live on the site, while the vote was still ongoing.
Fremantle's Nat Fyfe actually won the award, taking it out with 31 points, ahead of West Coast's Matt Priddis who finished the evening with 28.

Erik Roner, an accomplished extreme skier and BASE jumper, died Monday when he traveled off-base during a parachute stunt and hit a tree.

Extreme athlete and MTV co-star Erik Roner died Monday after a fatal crash into a tree during a parachute stunt at a charity golf tournament, entertainment company Nitro Circus, announced.
Roner was 39, married, and a father to two children.
According to the company's statement, Roner was part of a three-person parachute team at the 4th Annual Squaw Valley Institute Celebrity Golf Classic in Northern California when he "was off the drop zone target on descent and hit a large tree."
Roner was rushed to the hospital, Nitro Circus stated, but was declared dead shortly after.
According to Teton Gravity Research founder and eyewitness Roy Tuscany, "He hit a tree... he hit a tree so hard." Tuscany added that he didn't know what happened from there.
Within the extreme sports world, Roner was a household name. The native Californian's first sport was skiing. He has been featured in several magazines for his talents, and helped pioneer ski BASE jumping. The extreme sport incorporates BASE jumping (which stands for the surfaces from which one can jump: building, antenna, span, or Earth) and skiing.
According to his website, Roner was signed to Nitro Circus and co-starred in an MTV show with X Games gold medalist Travis Pastrana. The series, called Nitro Circus, lasted two seasons and aired in 2009.
Pastrana said in a Nitro Circus statement, "Erik was an amazing person who made everyone and everything around him better. His smile, laughter and personality will be missed by everyone at Nitro Circus."
"Most importantly," Pastrana added, "he has a beautiful wife and amazing kids that will miss him dearly."
The team said in a statement that Jonathan Papelbon’s behavior on Sunday was “unacceptable.”

Papelbon grabbed Harper by the throat in their own dugout on Sunday after the right fielder was out on fly ball in the eighth inning.
Papelbon also shoved Harper into a bench before the players were pulled apart by their teammates.
After the game however, Papelbon shrugged off the incident.
“I grew up with brothers, he grew up with brothers, I view him as a brother,” he told reporters. “And sometimes in this game, there’s a lot of testosterone and things spill over.”
The Nationals lost the game to the Philadelphia Phillies 12-5.
After the incident was proclaimed to be an "embarrassment" by ESPN and others, the Nationals said Monday that they are suspending Papelbon without pay for four games.
The team's general manager, Mike Rizzo, said in a statement that the pitcher's behavior was "unacceptable."
"That is not at all in line with the way our players are expected to conduct themselves, and the Nationals Organization will not tolerate it in any way," he said.
The statement didn't address the criticism fans have levied on Nationals manager Matt Williams for leaving Papelbon in the game after the attack on Harper.
After the game, Williams explained during a press conference that he left Papelbon on in “because he’s our closer.”
Later, Williams tried to explain that he did not see the severity of the attack on Harper and if he had he would have pulled Papelbon from the game immediately.

In addition to the four game suspension by the Nationals, Papelbon has dropped an appeal on this three-game suspension for throwing at Orioles third baseman Manny Machado’s head last Wednesday.
With the Nationals' four-game suspension and MLB's three-game suspension, Papelbon will be out for the rest of the season.
The Nationals acquired Papelbon from the Phillies mid-season, when the Nationals still were favored to win the NL East, and the Nationals are on the hook for $11 million for the closer next season.
Upon acquiring Papelbon, Williams gave Papelbon the role of closer and moved Drew Storen to setup reliever. During the second half of the season, Williams refused to deviate from those roles.

The Washington Nationals pitcher Jonathan Papelbon grabbed teammate Bryce Harper's throat in the dugout on Sunday as the team struggled against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Nationals went on to lose to the Phillies 12-5, and after the game, Papelbon appeared calm as he talked to reporters.
"I grew up with brothers, he grew up with brothers, I view him as a brother," Papelbon said. "And sometimes in this game, there's a lot of testosterone and things spill over."

A bag of “evidence” left on the doorstep of the mother of Patrick Kane’s accuser was planted by the mother herself, the District Attorney said Friday.

A bag that allegedly contained evidence from the rape investigation into NHL star Patrick Kane what was left outside the victim's mother's front door was falsified and planted by the mother, the District Attorney in Eerie County, New York said Friday.
On Wednesday, the alleged victim's attorney, Thomas Eoannou, held a news conference saying a brown bag containing evidence – including his client's rape kit – had been ripped open and left on her mother's doorstep.
Eoannou indicated that the chain of custody of the rape kit, which is essential to preserving admissibility of evidence in a trial, had been broken with the evidence in his client's case, and a "good samaritan" had delivered it to the mother's home. The attorney pointed out initials from the nurse and the alleged victim, used to indicate that the evidence was in fact the original collection from the alleged victim.
Thursday night, Eoannou removed himself as counsel for the alleged victim due to ethical concerns.
Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita said Friday that Eoannou's information wasn't true.
The evidence bag and brown bag presented by Eoannou on Wednesday was not the evidence taken from the alleged victim in August. The rape kit and other evidence remain in police custody and are fully intact, according to the DA.

The Group A fixture is due to finish around 9:30pm and the last train departing London's Paddington station for South Wales is 10pm.
The services leaving after 10pm are only due to go as far as Bristol.
Great Western Railway (GWR) has advised those trying to get back to Wales to make other travel plans or stay overnight in London.
The potential disruption is the latest in a series of complaints about the travel situation throughout England and Wales during the first week of the World Cup.
Last Friday, thousands of fans were stranded in Twickenham after a man fell in front of a train, causing all services to be suspended.

There were also complaints from those travelling to Wales last weekend after people were turned away from trains due to overcrowding, despite having pre-paid for tickets and reserved seats.
There were also reports of three-hour waits for trains after Australia's game with Fiji at the Millennium Stadium on Wednesday.
Blatter is suspected of criminal mismanagement and misappropriation.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter is under investigation by the Attorney General of Switzerland for criminal mismanagement and misappropriation, the government agency announced Friday.

The statement released by the Swiss Attorney General said Blatter is being investigated "on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as – alternatively – on suspicion of misappropriation." The probe stems from a contract Blatter signed with former President of the Caribbean Football Union, Jack Warner, who has been charged by U.S. authorities with corruption.
"There is suspicion that, in the implementation of this agreement, [Sepp] Blatter also violated his fiduciary duties and acted against the interest of FIFA and/or FIFA Marketing & TV AG," according to the statement.
Blatter is also accused of making "a disloyal payment" of two million Swiss Francs to Michael Platini, President of Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) who was the current favorite to replace Blatter as FIFA president. Platini was also questioned on Friday morning.
On Friday morning Blatter was "interrogated" by the Swiss government, and his office "has been searched and data seized." FIFA headquarters were also raided by federal police.
A press conference scheduled at FIFA's headquarters in Zurich was canceled Friday.
FIFA released a statement saying it is cooperating with the Swiss Attorney General.
"We will continue this level of cooperation throughout the investigation," the statement reads. "Today, at the Home of FIFA, representatives from the Office of the Swiss Attorney General conducted interviews and gathered documents pursuant to its investigation. FIFA facilitated these interviews as part of our ongoing cooperation."
The organization refused to comment further.
In June 2015, amid investigations into top-ranking FIFA officials for corruption, Blatter announced his intent to resign as FIFA President. He had recently been re-elected, but said in June that he would allow an Executive Committee to determine his future at the helm of soccer's governing body.

A day after a news conference suggested evidence in a rape case against NHL star Patrick Kane had been mishandled, the attorney representing his accuser said he is withdrawing from the case after suspecting "some fabrications."
Thomas Eoannou called a second news conference Thursday night to say the investigation of a torn evidence bag had left him without confidence in how it came to be delivered to his office. The mother of his client had previously said she found the torn evidence bag — complete with alleged victim's name — left on her doorstep.
"I do not have confidence in that version of the events," Eoannou told reporters. "I don’t know how the bag got on the porch. I don’t have confidence in the version that was provided to me."
Eoannou on Wednesday had called for a criminal investigation after accusing authorities of tampering with evidence.

After an investigation by authorities, as well as Eoannou's office, however, the attorney said he could no longer represent the woman.
"It's my ethical obligation to withdraw," he said.
Eoannou added that investigators had confirmed the bag was a genuine evidence bag relating to the case. However, he could not say what may have been inside.
He added he did not believe this week's developments had any bearing on the credibility of the woman's original accusations against Kane.
"One has nothing to do with the other," Eoannou said.

But Kane's attorney, Paul Cambria, later said the entire case should be dismissed.
"I feel that Patrick Kane has been victimized," he said. "This happening today is bizarre."
Cambria repeated his previous statements that the DNA evidence in the rape kit would exonerate Kate. He added he believed a family member of the woman had tried to call into question that evidence by staging the torn bag.
"Somebody attempted to use [Eoannou] to fabricate or obstruct or undermine the science," Cambria said. "I think that speaks volumes about the integrity of the original accusation."
Cambria added that he and Kane would consider suing the woman. He said he hoped authorities would hold anyone who had fabricated evidence responsible.
"In order for the system to work, when people try to corrupt it they need to be held accountable," he said.
The woman told WGRZ that she plans to continue to pursue the case against Kane.
The Erie County District Attorney is scheduled to speak to reporters on Friday regarding the case.
Police have already said they have accounted for all evidence — including the rape kit — and it remained in its original packaging. A break in the chain of custody would be important because a medical examiner would be unable to testify with certainty that the evidence had not been tampered with or compromised.

The comment was left in a public post-trial survey that was filled out by a person claiming to have served on the jury in Aaron Hernandez’s murder trial.

A person identifying themselves as a juror in the murder trial of former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez reported that fellow jurors improperly discussed the case among themselves, and that the court was treating them as being "too trustworthy," according to a motion filed Thursday.
"I hope you pick us again so we can do it to anither [sic] thug," the person wrote in a post-trial survey.
The alleged juror's answers to the survey were included in the court motion filed by Hernandez's attorneys, who are seeking a subpoena to identify the person through their IP address. The attorneys said the internet service provider has agreed to release the information if a subpoena is obtained.
Charles Rankin, an attorney for Hernandez, reached out to Jury Commissioner Pam Wood, who said the survey is publicly available on a Massachusetts government website.
Wood told BuzzFeed News that the form is essentially a customer service survey, like one that would be filled out in a restaurant or retail store, but that it is "primarily meant to be for people who completed jury service."
A person would "probably have to find the link independently," Wood said, but added that the website is listed on every jury summons.

Hernandez was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole on April 15. The jury held a press conference immediately following the conviction, but has since stayed mostly private.
Hernandez is also the defendant in a double homicide trial in Boston slated to begin later this year.
On June 15, James Sultan, one of Hernandez's attorneys, filed a document in which he revealed he had received an anonymous phone call from a woman who claimed to have discussed the case with a juror.
The woman told Sultan "she recognized one of the jurors from TV" and remembered having a discussion about Hernandez's double homicide charges, which were inadmissible during the first trial.
In subsequent weeks, Hernandez's attorneys requested to interview the anonymous caller on the stand after a subpoena of Sultan's phone company revealed her identity. But the caller later changed her story and no longer wished to be involved. It was later revealed that the caller had exchanged "sexually explicit" prison letters with Hernandez.
Prosecutors have repeatedly requested more information before proceeding with the anonymous caller, and a hearing to determine the validity of the her claims will be closed to the public.
Prosecutors declined to comment on the alleged juror survey.
Though Hernandez was convicted more than five months ago, he has a vocal and loyal set of fans who continue to maintain he was wrongly convicted. A Facebook page called "Support For Aaron Hernandez" — where the group administrator post in all capital letters and distribute mugs bearing the convicted murderer's face — has only grown in popularity since the conclusion of the murder trial.
Regular posters on the Facebook page have often claimed the judge was biased against Hernandez, and many have commented on her attitude during the case. Members of the group often claim to exchange letters with Hernandez as well.

An attorney representing the woman who accused Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane of rape revealed Wednesday that his client’s DNA evidence was publicly tampered with.
The rape kit evidence bag of a woman who accused NHL star Patrick Kane rape was ripped open and left on her mother's doorstep, the woman's attorney said at a news conference Wednesday.
Eoannou said the bag was delivered to the doorstep by "a good samaritan," indicating that the person who tampered with evidence bag was not the same person who delivered it to the accuser's mother.

During the news conference, Eoannou called for an independent review of the tampering of evidence with the intent it lead to a criminal investigation.
Eoannou expressed concerns over leaks to the media regarding results of DNA evidence. He said that in 30 years as an attorney, "this is the worst case of victim bashing I have ever seen. This is a classic example of why rape victims don't come forward in rape cases."
The attorney also shot down reports that his client was working toward a settlement with Kane's camp, saying that he is "the last lawyer you'd go to in town to settle a civil case."
The tampering of evidence could make the DNA evidence and rape kit inadmissible during a trial.
According to Stacy St. Clair of the Chicago Tribune, Kane's attorney said "his client would be hurt most by tampered evidence because they can't do their own testing if needed."
During a press conference immediately following Eoannou's, Kane's attorney Paul Cambria confirmed that he and his client had not met with Eoannou and his client for settlement talks.
Cambria told reporters that the evidence needed to prove his client's innocence had already been reported, and that Kane's DNA was not found below the accuser's waist. He said a "mixture" of DNA from other men had been found below her waist, an allegation Eoannou had addressed and disputed during his earlier press conference.
"The victim in this case hasn't been determined yet," Cambria said. "And I think my client is the victim here."
Kane, who plays for the Chicago Blackhawks, has been in attendance at the Blackhawks training camp while the investigation plays out in his hometown of Hamburg, NY.
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly released a statement in September regarding Kane's participation in training camp:
We have remained in close contact with the Blackhawks' organization over the last 7 days and given the circumstances that exist now, we support the Club's decision in this situation.
Kane has played with the Blackhawks since 2007, and the team has won three Stanley Cups in time with the club. In 2009, Kane pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct charge after he allegedly punched a cab driver in Buffalo, NY who shortchanged him 20 cents on his cab fare.
The NHL and Blackhawks did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
