Patriots Fan Sets Up GoFundMe Page To Pay Team's $1 Million Deflategate Fine

The team is valued at $2.6 billion, by the by, and Tom Brady himself has made well over $150 million throughout the course of his NFL career.

One particularly intrepid Patriots fan has set up a GoFundMe page to pay the Patriots' $1 million fine for Deflategate.

We obviously know we won't reach One Million Dollars, however we do believe the fine is bulls**t and want to help anyway we can. So whatever is donated will be donated to the New England Patriots in help with the fine!
As we venture with this, we will do frequent updates to show progression of this! If enough is made to make the travel, we will fly down there (on our own expenses) and deliver a check in person!

In August 2014, Forbes valued the New England Patriots at $2.6 billion, ranked behind only the Dallas Cowboys in wealth. Team owner Robert Kraft has a net worth of $4.3 billion, according to Forbes.

Forbes in 2014 also tallied up Brady's salary over the course of his tenure as a Patriot and put it at $154,779,500 (and that's not including bonuses or endorsement deals).

There are currently 44 donations to the fund for a whopping total of $1,210.

Daniel Knowles, who donated $10, said: "I'm not exactly rolling in the cash but I can do this for a cause."

NFL Suspends Tom Brady Four Games For Role In Deflategate

The Patriots were also fined $1 million and were stripped of two draft picks.

The NFL has suspended Tom Brady without pay for four games after determining that he was likely the driving force behind two Patriots attendants deflating footballs below league requirements.

According to the release, the two locker room attendants who allegedly deflated the quarterback's footballs, John Jastremski and James McNally "have been indefinitely suspended without pay by the club."

The 243-page investigative report outlined increased correspondence between Brady and one of the attendants after news broke that the NFL would investigate the team. Prior to that, the two attendants had exchanged text messages in which McNally referred to himself as "the deflator."

The pair also made jokes about Brady, saying "fuck tom" and that "the only thing deflating [Sunday].. is his passing rating."

The integrity of the game is of paramount importance to everyone in our league, and requires unshakable commitment to fairness and compliance with the playing rules. Each player, no matter how accomplished and otherwise respected, has an obligation to comply with the rules and must be held accountable for his actions when those rules are violated and the public's confidence in the game is called into question.

Vincent also informed the Patriots that Spygate, the 2007 scandal in which the Patriots were found to have videotaped opponents, weighed into their decision to bring such intense sanctions against the team.

Brady did not turn over his cell phone to investigators, and Vincent says his refusal to cooperate fully was a factor in their decision.

Vincent says Brady was "offered extraordinary safeguards by the investigators to protect unrelated personal information. Although we do not hold the club directly responsible for Mr. Brady's refusal to cooperate, it remains significant that the quarterback of the team failed to cooperate fully with the investigation."

Though the investigation did not find evidence that head coach Bill Belichick or team owner Robert Kraft knew about the goings on of their attendants and quarterback, Vincent said "it remains a fundamental principle that the club is responsible for the actions of club employees."

Brady is nearly guaranteed to appeal his suspension. His backup is Jimmy Garoppolo. If the four game suspension is not overturned, he will return to the field in Week 5 against the Colts.

Aaron Hernandez Charged For Allegedly Shooting Friend In The Face

Prosecutors claim Hernandez shot his friend, Alexander Bradley, and left him for dead after Bradley made a comment about a 2012 double homicide that prosecutors said Hernandez committed.

Aaron Hernandez was charged with witness intimidation on Monday for allegedly shooting a witness to a 2012 double homicide that the former New England Patriot will stand trial for later this year.

In 2013, Hernandez allegedly shot his close friend — and godfather of his daughter — Alexander Bradley in the face in Florida and left him for dead. Bradley survived, and prosecutors said Monday Hernandez shot him after he made a comment about the 2012 double homicide.

The Suffolk County district attorney said:

Though this shooting took place outside of Massachusetts, it may be prosecuted under Ch. 268, Sect. 13B, of the Massachusetts General Laws as willfully causing physical injury to a witness with the intent to impede a Suffolk County criminal investigation. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison.

A hearing for the 2012 double homicide is scheduled for May 21, but an arraignment date has not been set for this new charge. In the double homicide case, prosecutors claim Hernandez shot and killed two men after leaving a nightclub. Another man was shot at, but survived, and will serve as a witness for their case.

Less than a month ago, Hernandez was convicted of first-degree murder for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole. In that case, he was convicted on circumstantial evidence — the murder weapon was never found, nor was a motive established. In the 2012 homicide case, the weapon was recovered and the county has witnesses.

Bradley, who was once close friends with Hernandez, took the stand as a witness in the Lloyd trial. He was not allowed to disclose anything about the alleged 2013 shooting, but took the stand with a visible scar between his eyes. Hernandez's attorneys warned the judge that if he said the defendant shot him in the face, it'd be cause for an immediate mistrial. When asked if his friendship with the defendant ended in 2013, Bradley simply answered "yes."

For Hernandez, this latest charge is one of several criminal and civil cases in Massachusetts.

In the 2012 double homicide case, he faces the following charges:

-Two counts of murder
-Three counts of armed assault with intent to murder
-Assault and battery by means of dangerous weapon
-Unlawful possession of a firearm

He also faces various gun and ammo possession charges, along with charges of assaulting an inmate and threatening a corrections officer.

He is also the defendant in four civil suits in Massachusetts and Florida. The family of Odin Lloyd will press forward with their civil suit, and the two victims of the Boston double homicide have sued him as well. He is also a defendant in a civil suit in Florida for allegedly shooting Bradley.

Most of the charges were around $1,300. There was also a $2,935 charge in September 2011.

During games, Christie is often seated in luxury boxes, for which he pays nothing. But as anyone who has been to an NFL game in recent years will tell you, the cost of concessions are really where they get you.

Christie did not provide itemized receipts of his purchases, New Jersey Watchdog reported, so it is unclear how many people were in attendance each time.

There was also a single charge for $104 from the New Jersey Devils in July 2011, three months before the 2011–2012 season began.

According to New Jersey Watchdog:

In addition to his $175,000 a year salary, the governor receives $95,000 a year in expense advances.

The outlet reported that over the course of five years, Christie spent about $300,000 of his $360,00 budget on food and drinks both at sports venues and other locations.

In 2012, the New Jersey Republican State Committee reimbursed the State Treasury for nearly the exact amount of Christie's purchases at MetLife Stadium. Christie's aides said his charges served "business purposes," according to a statement provided to New Jersey Watchdog:

"The official nature and business purpose of the event remains the case regardless of whether the event is at the State House, Drumthwacket or a sporting venue."

Christie, a New Jersey native, is a Dallas Cowboys superfan who shared the owner's suite at AT&T Stadium during the Cowboys' 2015 playoff run.

Bill Simmons And ESPN Are Parting Ways

ESPN president John Skipper confirmed the news in a statement early Friday.

ESPN has released a statement announcing a split with network personality and Grantland editor-in-chief Bill Simmons.

instagram.com

I decided today that we are not going to renew Bill Simmons' contract. We have been in negotiations and it was clear it was time to move on. ESPN's relationship with Bill has been mutually beneficial - he has produced great content for us for many years and ESPN has provided him many new opportunities to spread his wings. We wish Bill continued success as he plans his next chapter. ESPN remains committed to Grantland and we have a strong team in place.

The ESPN President also claimed that Simmons' recent suspension "had no bearing on his decision to end ESPN's relationship with Simmons."

Simmons' contract expires in September. Skipper pointed out in his statement that Grantland will live on without its founder.
